Four measures to reduce bitterness of cucumber

The bitter taste of cucumber is caused by a substance called momordicin, which causes vomiting, diarrhea, sputum and other poisoning symptoms. The following four measures can effectively reduce the bitterness of cucumber. 1. Without bitter gourd seedlings have bitter cucumber genetics. Therefore, when the cucumber is about to mature, it is necessary to take a portion of the surface to taste and choose a bitter melon seed. 2. Fertilizer should be controlled at a reasonable seedling stage. Nitrogen fertilizer should be controlled, and then the amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be gradually increased. By the time of flowering, the ratio of cucumber to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium absorption is basically 5:2:6, nitrogen fertilizer is excessive or phosphorus and potassium fertilizer are used. When it is too little, it is most likely to produce bitterness. 3. To avoid high temperature or low temperature below 13 °C, due to the absorption of nutrients and moisture is affected, there will be more bitter melons; if the ground temperature is too high above 30 °C, the bitter melon will increase. 4. Avoiding Drought When the temperature is high and the soil moisture is low, the plants are susceptible to physiological drought and produce bitter melons.
