Analysis of Dairy Import Trade

According to the statistics of China Customs, in November 2010, China's dairy products (including H.S. 0401, H.S. 0402, H.S. 0403, H.S. 0404, H.S. 0405 and H.S. 0406 Six tax numbers) imported 72,120 tons, an increase of 30.61% over the previous year.

BOABC believes that the reasons for the year-on-year increase in dairy imports in November 2010 were the recovery of domestic dairy product demand and the increase in new demand during the second half of the consumer season. Second, the price advantage of dairy products was still more pronounced than that of similar products in China, and the price of raw milk was drastic. The increase was mainly due to the off-season of milk production, a serious shortage of domestic production, a shortage of supply, a high cost of raw milk, and high processing costs. As a result, product prices were higher than similar imported products. In addition, product quality was low and sales were hindered.
