How to test the friction coefficient of the conveyor belt

Abstract: The friction coefficient of the conveyor belt is an important evaluation index for the smooth completion of the transmission work and the energy consumption of the equipment. In this paper, the friction coefficient between the belt sample and the stainless steel table top of the equipment was tested by MXD-01 friction coefficient meter. The test principle, equipment parameters, applicable range and test procedure were introduced to provide reference for the test of belt friction coefficient.

1 , meaning

A belt conveyor is a common transport mechanism that moves items to their destination through the circular motion of the belt. During the operation of the belt conveyor, the coefficient of friction between the belt and the transported goods, belts and equipment is an important factor affecting the normal operation of the belt conveyor. Generally speaking, the coefficient of static friction between the belt and the goods to be transported should be high, so that there is no relative sliding between the belt and the cargo to ensure the normal transportation of the cargo, and the danger is not easy to occur; the coefficient of dynamic friction between the belt and the equipment should be kept low. Level to reduce wear and tear on the equipment and reduce the energy required to drive the belt. Therefore, the producer and the application side should strengthen the test of the belt friction coefficient of the equipment.

2 , test samples

In this test, a transport belt was used as the test sample, and the coefficient of friction of the belt-to-device contact surface was tested.

3 , the test basis

The method standard related to the friction coefficient test of the transportation belt has not been released in China. The test is based on the standard GB 10006-1988 "Method for Measuring the Friction Coefficient of Plastic Film and Sheet". The simulation and testing are carried out according to the actual movement of the contact surface between the sample and the conveyor. The coefficient of friction of the sample as it moves on the stainless steel table of the friction tester.

4 , test equipment

In this paper, the friction coefficient of the sample is tested by the MXD-01 friction coefficient meter. The equipment is independently developed and produced by Jinan Languang Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd.

4.1 Test principle

The coefficient of friction refers to the ratio of the friction between the objects to the pressure perpendicular to the contact surface. During the test, a fixed pressure is generated on the test sample and the friction surface by a slider of a certain quality, and a relative uniform movement between the sample and the friction surface is generated by the drag device. A force value sensor is arranged in the drag device to monitor the change of the force value during the process from the rest to the moving distance of the sample in real time. The ratio of the maximum tensile force to the pressure during the relative motion of the sample from the standstill to the start is the static friction coefficient. The ratio of the average value of the tensile force to the pressure during the uniform motion is the dynamic friction coefficient.

4.2 Scope of application

(1) This equipment is specially used to measure plastic film and sheet, aluminum foil, aluminum-plastic composite film, metal material composite tape for communication cable, metal products, rubber, paper, cardboard, woven bag, textile, non-woven fabric, conveyor belt The static friction coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient of materials such as wood, coating, brake pads, wipers, shoe materials, tires, etc. can also be used for the smoothness test of daily chemicals such as cosmetics and eye drops.

(2) This equipment meets many national and international standards, such as ISO 8295 and GB 10006 .

4.3 Equipment parameters

  • 0 ~ 5 N , test accuracy is 1 level; stroke is 70 mm ; standard slider quality is 200 g , 500 g to choose from, and other quality sliders can be customized according to user or related standards; test speed is 100 mm/min ; the dynamic and static friction coefficient of the sample can be measured simultaneously in one test; the test bench and the test slide are demagnetized and residual magnetic detection, which effectively reduces the system test error; supports Lystem TM laboratory data sharing System, unified management of test reports and test results.

5 , the test process

(1) from the sample surface to be tested. Cut 63 cm × 63 cm specimen 3, tailoring process should avoid hand contact with the test specimen surface (i.e., surface in contact with the conveyor), to prevent contamination of the test surface .

(2) Fix one of the specimens on the slider with double-sided tape so that the test surface faces outward and the non-test surface contacts the slider.

(3) Connect the slider to the sensor and place it on the stainless steel table without buffering so that the running direction of the slider is parallel to the test direction.

(4) Set the parameter information such as sample name, test speed, weight and weight. Click the test option, and the device will automatically complete the contact 15s - relative static - relative sliding process according to the set parameters , and display the static friction coefficient after the test. Dynamic friction coefficient.

(5) According to the fixed sample - connecting sensor-click test option operation, test the friction coefficient of the remaining two samples.

6 , test results

The friction coefficient of the tested sample was taken as the average of the test results of the three samples, that is, the static friction coefficient was 0.301 and the dynamic friction coefficient was 0.264 .

7 , conclusion

The friction coefficient of the belt is an important factor affecting the normal operation of the belt conveyor. In this paper, the test method of belt friction coefficient is introduced by testing the static friction coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient of the belt sample.
