Even if you don't smoke, if you “passively smoke” at home or at work, it will still cause women's blood pressure to rise. Professor Imai, and others from the Department of Pharmacy, Tohoku University, conducted a large-scale survey of residents in the area of Dae-ju, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, and found the harm caused by “passive smoking”. The journal of the International Society of Hypertension recently published a paper on the results of the survey.
Professor Imai Run and others distributed sphygmomanometers to families in the area, and carefully studied the relationship between circulator (cardiovascular surgery) related diseases and living habits for more than 20 years. They extracted 474 women over the age of 35 who had never had a history of smoking and did not take blood pressure medications from the study data, and analyzed whether there was a relationship between passive smoking history and blood pressure.
The results showed that women who were frequently passively smoking had blood pressure measurements 4 mm Hg higher than women without passive smoking, and there was no difference between the lowest blood pressure and the heart rate.
Professor Imai Run said: "If the Japanese average blood pressure drops by 2 mm Hg, the number of deaths due to cerebrovascular accidents will be reduced by 9000. Therefore, Japan should be completely banned as soon as possible."
