New Leuven, Belgium, March 30, 2016 – IBA (Ion Beam Applications SA), the world's leading provider of cancer proton therapy solutions, has recently received CE certification for its new superconducting accelerator. This accelerator, which requires certification from the relevant authorities, is based on the latest developments in the IBA's compact intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) product Proteus ONE.
The CE certification, the European Qualification Certification, is a necessary part of the first Proteus ONE in Europe towards full delivery. Europe's first Proteus ONE is located at Centre Antoine-Lacassagne (CAL) in the heart of Antoine-La Casani, Nice, France. In less than three months in June 2016, the center will receive all necessary certifications to complete the system delivery.
The IBA also signed five other contracts to supply Proteus ONE system equipment to the European market, and to provide such system equipment to 12 centers worldwide. The recent CE certification is significant, ensuring that IBA's current and future contracts are delivered on time and that the IAB's delivery time is the fastest in the world for such proton therapy systems.
