Israeli medical device company is seeking FDA approval for its non-invasive blood glucose monitoring equipment

Release date: 2015-08-19

Israeli medical device company Integrity Applications is working hard to seek FDA approval for its non-invasive blood glucose device Gluco Track.

The device allows the user to detect blood sugar without blood collection. The user can wear the device on the ear, and the Gluco Track monitors the blood glucose level by combining sensors and sends it to the handset-sized handheld device. The ear chip needs to be corrected every six months, and the calibration process requires blood collection.

The company revealed on its website that Gluco Track uses three separate measurement sensors for thermal, ultrasound and electromagnetic technology for blood glucose monitoring. The result is obtained by a proprietary algorithm and the readings are displayed on the device's color touch screen. For visually impaired users, the device also provides voice readings.

The equipment has been licensed in several countries, but it will take some time to introduce it into the United States. The company has submitted the application documents to the FDA and plans to conduct clinical trials in the United States. The company also needs a complete testing process before getting permission.
